Human rights are basic rights which everyone has. The right to life, to free speech, to a family life, to a fair trial, to not be discriminated against… They are about dignity and respect. They are the building blocks of a good life.

Human rights are also controversial. Many newspapers don’t like them. Politicians say they must change. The public worry that they help bad people and hurt ordinary people. But the stories about human rights helping ordinary people are too often drowned out by the noisy bad stories. And there are too many misrepresentations and myths.

We want to do something about that. Human rights are too important to leave to the newspapers and politicians. RightsInfo will fight misinformation with beautiful infographics and compelling stories about human rights. We want RightsInfo to be a place you can go to find clear and reliable information about human rights. We have worked hard to build a space that is welcoming to everyone, whether you know nothing, a little, or a lot about human rights.

This is just the beginning. RightsInfo is about changing the way we communicate human rights. Our first set of infographics, stories and posts are about showing that is possible. We want to inspire conversation and creativity.

RightsInfo is for you. It’s about your human rights. We want you to use it, share it, join the debates and, most of all, have fun doing it. If you like it, share it on Twitter, Facebook and sign up to our email updates. And if you have your own ideas, let us know. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
